DK Additional DC Kumar told media here on Aug 21 Monday that many people have been approaching the Aadhaar enrolment centres only for correction and the facility would be made available in more post offices. With this, those enrolling for Aadhaar for the first time need not wait for long at the enrolment centres.

ADC  Kumar said that though the corrections could be done in 15 post offices, many people still approached the Aadhaar enrolment centres resulting in long queues, while issuing tokens in advance at such centres.

He said that installing machines at 23 more post offices would require about a week. Once they are operational, the burden on the enrolment centres would come down.

ADC Kumar said that four KarnatakaOne centres in the city and the Janaspandana Kendra at the office of the DK DC were issuing tokens for fresh enrolment and correction in Aadhaar.

Enrolment and corrections were also being carried out in 17 Atal Janasnehi centres at the hobli level. The government has been requested to sanction 23 more enrolment centres in the city.

Meanwhile, there was a long queue of people for tokens at the Janaspandana Kendra in the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday. People started forming the queue at 6 a.m. itself.

ADC Kumar said that personnel at the Kendra started issuing tokens at 9 a.m. In the light of the long queue, more personnel were deployed to clear the rush. As many as 3,521 tokens were issued.

At the rate of 35 persons per day, tokens have been issued till March, he said. District Information Officer Khader Shah said that people can get corrections done online by following the procedure prescribed in “update Aadhaar” link on the website,www.uidai.gov.in.

People can fill necessary details in the form available on the website and send them by post to the UIDAI office in Hyderabad with copies of proof of address, date of birth and proof of identity documents.
