AMUCT seeks 7th UGC pay recommendations implimentation, protest today

Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2017: Association of Mangalore UniversityCollege Teachers (AMUCT) is set to hold a peaceful dharna in front of office of regional director of collegiate education, University College campus today August 22, Tuesday.


AMUCT.jpThe protest is to urge the central govrnment to immediately publish and implement the recommendations submitted by the seventh UGC pay review committee which is pending before the central cabinet and already delayed due to unknown reasons.


AMUCT is holding the protest in response to call given by All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations and Federation of University and College Teachers Associations in Karnataka. Pay revision for university/college teachers done once in 10 years is due from January 1, 2016. Except university and college, most sections of central government employees and also many state government employees are getting benefits of 7th Pay Commission.


The demand also includes 100% funding from central government to state governments for the revised scales. In continuation of the protest, AIFUCTO has planned a court arrest programme on September 5 (Teachers Day) at Delhi. AMUCT president Ummappa Poojary P and general secretary B A Kumar Hegde requested members of AMUCT to participate in the dharna in large numbers and thereby convey their angst to the government over the delay
