ABVP stages protest against arrest of student with regard to Karaya clashes

Belthangady, Feb 04, 2015: The arrest of a student by the police in connection with the recent clashes at Karaya following the Hindu Sangama held at Puttur, has triggered protest by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). On February 3, Tuesday hundreds of student took out a protest march in Ujire demanding the release of the student.

It may be recalled here that a student named Nidhish Shetty was among several others  apprehended in connection with the  clashes and stone pelting incidents.

Prajwal Bangera, ABVP leader who spoke at the protest charged the police of arresting innocents after failing to trace the real culprits responsible for the clashes. He also hurled a serious allegation  that the  images of students were morphed and included in the CCTV footages of the incident.

Shraddha, another ABVP leader warned that the students would go ahead with their protests  till the demand was fulfilled.

Even Nidhish’s father Sridhar Shetty who participated in the protest said he was of the strong belief that his son has not erred.

The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar.
