ABVP protest for reduction of bus fares in city

Mangalore, Oct 30, 2014 : Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on October 29, Wednesday pressured minister for transport R Ramalinga Reddy to reduce bus fares of services operated by KSRTC in view of a move by the union government to decontrol price of diesel, which has led to reduction of this fuel price.

Jayesh PK, city secretary of ABVP in a memorandum submitted to the minister through the deputy commissioner here noted that this move not to reduce bus fares is hitting the prospects of commuters in general and the economically backward students in particular the most.

Condemning the move, Jayesh demanded that the state government forthwith reduce the bus fares and provide justice to the travelling public. Student activists affiliated to ABVP earlier staged a human chain at PVS junction to press for their demand and later submitted the memorandum.
