Mangaluru, Jan 07 2017:  In a welcome gesture of communal harmony in Ullal area which has  in the recent past witnessed  frequent communal strifes,  Muslims offered  refreshments  to their Hindu brethren at Mastikatte Junction on January 6, Friday.

The occasion was the Hore Kanike procession   in connection with the Brahmakalashotsava of the Ullalthi Dharma Arasara  shrine. The celebrations  which began on Friday will conclude on January 12.

The Hore Kanike procession was inaugurated near the Jai Veeramaruthi Vyayama Shale  near Tokkottu by  A J Shekhar, Managing Trustee of  Ullal Umamaheshwari Temple.

Several hundreds of devotees participated in the procession by foot as well as in vehicles and were greeted by Muslim brethren  near the Masthikatte Junction by offering them cold drinks and water. The noble task was led by Usman Kallapu, a former council member of Ullal. Mustafa, Council Member, Ahmed Bava, Monu and others too lent a helping hand.
