Mangaluru, April 2,2016 : It is reported that many questions in the SSLC Science examination on Apr 1, Friday were described as "ambigious" by students as well as teachers.
Rumours were many that Science paper had leaked, Yashoda Bopanna, director, Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, refuted them. WhatsApp forwards were monitored and compared them with the original paper and they were not the same.
One student who took the exam at Rosario School, said questions required more time to figure out and were not direct in nature. They were quite tricky but most answered them. Most of these were application-based. For students with good exposure answering them would not have been toodifficult.
One science teacher explained that the questions were difficult for rural students who were more used to direct questions. The paper was a bit difficult. In rural areas, students are unable to answer many application-type questions. The problem surfaced more clearly.
A few teachers analysed the paper and were shocked by some of the questions. It seems the examiners were out to show case their intelligence rather than give students a chance.
But, the view was also that the paper was within the guidelines given by the board. Questions for more than 20 marks required better training and thinking. A normal may pass marks but not a high marks.
