A decade of ’Speech and Hearing College’ at Muller’s celebrated

Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2018 : The Muller’s Speech & hearing College Mangaluru celebrated  Decennial Year Finale Celebrations  January 13, 2018. There was a solemn Mass and prayer in the morning with Management, staff, students and guests participating in with a deep sense of ratitude to God for the many blessings over the last decade for this very vital facility here in Mangaluru.

The formal celebrations commenced later in the morning at Father Muller Convention Centre.  Dr. N. Shivashankar, Professor and HOD of Speech pathology and Audiology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru was the chief guest, Most Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese and Vice President of FMCI presided over the function. Director Rev. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Rev. Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Administrator, FMMCH, Rev. Ajith Menezes,  Administrator, FMMC, Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services, FMCI and Principal Prof. Akhilesh P.M. were the dignitaries on the dais.

Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services welcomed to the gathering. Special welcome was  given to Dr. N. Shivashankar by honoring with the bouquet flowers by the principal Prof. Akhilesh P.M., Vicar General was welcomed by Dr. Santosh Kumar. Principal Prof. Akhilesh P.M., presented a brief report of the 10 years activities of the college which comprised of 5 main topics :

1. Faculty development programme. 2. Students progress and success in activities. 3. Organizing conferences and seminars.  4. Public Awareness Programmes. 5. Research Activities

Director Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho addressed the gathering and said, that speech and hearing is a prized assets of human beings and lack of  of these is a pathetic situation. The Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing renders quality, corrective and rehabilitative support to the  patients who come to us. Well qualified staff and fully furnished labs with modern equipment are used for the purpose.

Releasing of the magazine “Muller Wave” Decennial edition was done by Dr. N. Shivashnakar,  The chief guest. In his addressed to the gathering he congratulated and saluted the   commendable progress of the college and praised the Management for dedication and support.


He further said that communication encompasses verbal communication which is (30%) and 70% non verbal communication’s. He emphasized that our word should be like strings of pearl, articulation should be clear, God has to be pleased the way one speaks and communicates. He called  upon the students to keep the mind open to learn and absorb all information made available by the ever vibrant staff and keep a questioning mind always which is the gate way of learning.


Most Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu acknowledged the contribution of Dr. George Oliver Pinto first principal, Mrs. Shwetha who has contributed to the institutions and has a played a key role in getting NAAC accreditation and Ms. Vibha Kanagokar for her service in the department of  Audiology and presented mementos to them. In his presidential address he conveyed the blessings and greetings of  Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza, Bishop of Mangalore and the president of Father Muller Charitable Institutions. The Msgr. Applauded the staff for the contribution they have made in the remarkable growth of the college. He stressed on the need to  make steady progress and help the challenged and make their lives better and happier through the  dedicated service and support of this noble profession.

After the Institutional anthem a fitting heart touching cultural program followed. Students performed  entertaining dance both eastern and western singing. The cultural program  concluded with national anthem. After a delicious lunch, the participants attended Parent Teacher meeting 40 parents were present for the meeting.  A brief  meeting of the Alumni was also held where they expressed their gratitude for the time they spent in Muller’s and expressed willingness to whole hearted support whenever necessary. the day was made memorable with the large and dynamic participation.
