Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2015 : The 9th Annual Bicycle Rally organised by Swasti RxLife and Jyothi Cycles on December 6, Sunday saw the enthusiastic participation of over 2500 cyclists. S Murugan, City Police Commissioner and Gopinath, retired lecturer of Canara College, inaugurated the rally at Ladyhill.
The Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya which has been in the lead in the fight against the controversial Yettinahole Project, used the occasion to create awareness against the project through banners.
Members of YHAI Mangaluru and various other organisations as well as a large number of students took part in the rally which culminated at Amrita Vidyalayam after passing through Ladyhill, Bejai, Kulur, Panambur, Kottara, Urvastores and Ashoknagar.
There was even a lucky draw and 11 bicycles were presented to the winners. Three postmen who did not have bicycles as well as three senior citizens namely Vishwanath (75), Ramachandra Rao (85) and Walter D’Souza (75) were handed over bicycles on the occasion.
