9 poll code violation cases in DK, 10 cases in Udupi

Mangaluru, Apr 10, 2018: A total of nine cases of model code of conduct violations have been registered  in Dakshina Kannada  district while ten cases have been registered in Udupi district.

Prominently, cases have been registered against DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai and senior RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat too for violation.

Rai has been booked for holding a public meeting at Pallamajalu in Bantwal without  prior permission following which flying squad officer Mohan lodged a complaint.  Subsequently FIR was lodged against Rai, Chandraprakash Shetty, Ramakrishna Alva, Abbas Ali and Baby Kunder.

Meanwhile, Kalladka Bhat  was booked for  holding a meet at Kairangala on April 6 without any permission and also for delivering a provocative speech.

In another case, the President of Yaksha Mitra Jyothi too has been booked for  decorating the place in front of Mini Vidhana Saudha on March 31 for a Yakshagana.

 Sandeep Devadiga, Akash, Charan Raj and Rakshith Bhandary  were booked on April 1  for being in possession of two pistols and three lethal weapons. An offensive report on Srikar Prabhu also resulted in a case against UC News on April 6.

In Udupi, the election officials have seized  Rs 5,87,700 cash without any valid documentation in four different cases. As many as ten excise licenses have also been suspended.
