9 arrested for brutal assault on autorickshaw driver

Mangaluru, Oct 23, 2019: Mangaluru Rural Police have arrested nine persons in connection with the brutal attack on autorickshaw driver Santosh (35) near Neermarga.

Those arrested are Shivananda Achari, Dhanaraj, Nitin Poojary, Jeevan Poojary, Santosh Poojary, Dheeraj Sapalya, Raghavendra Poojary and Pranesh.

The incident had occurred on October 17. Santosh who had purchased  gingily oil from a shop at Bithpade was heading home when he was waylaid  by two of the accused  who picked up a quarrel and ultimately attacked him with a machete. Santosh who has suffered serious injuries in his hands and legs is presently recovering in hospital.
