8 yr RI for hubby for driving pregnant wife to suicide

 Mangalore, June 29, 2013 : In a significant judgement, the Third Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to eight years of rigorous imprisonment for driving his pregnant wife to suicide after inflicting constant mental torture on her. 

The convict has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 60,000.

The person who is proved guilty is Rajesh alias Rajkumar of Koltige village. His wife Reshma had ended her life on August 1.2011 unable to bear the mental torture by Rajesh and his wife Pushpavathi.

It was also gathered that Reshma on several earlier occasions had narrated the torture at her husband’s home with her parents.

Following  Reshma’s suicide, her brother Naveen Shetty had lodged a complaint against Rajesh and Padmavathi.

The Court had subsequently filed charge sheet against Rajesh and his mother but absolved Pushpavathi of the charges for lack of evidences.

The court has directed Rajesh to pay the penalty amount to Reshma’s mother.
