75th Melwyn Peris Nite to celebrate 75th anniversary of Angelore parish

Mangalore, Nov 23: Melwyn Peris, popularly known as the Yodeling King, organized his 75th musical nite on Nov 22 at 6 p.m. on the occasion on the platinum jubilee celebrations of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore. The purpose of the show was to raise funds to educate the poor and deserving students of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore. 

The parish priest of Angelore welcomed the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza in a traditional manner. Mr. Leslie Rego, the master of ceremonies, made the welcome speech.

The bishop felicitated the brothers of Melwyn Peris, Mr. Denis Peris, Mr. Albert Peris, and Mr. Jerry Rasquinha with a shawl, flowers, garland, fruits, and a memento. He also honored Melwyn Peris for his achievements in the field of Konkani music with a garland, fruits, a memento, shawl, and a traditional peta. In his speech, the bishop said that Mr. Peris was a gift to the world of Konkani because he had nurtured his God-given talents and used them to serve people. The bishop also wished Mr. Peris all the best in all his future endeavors. 

Fr. Stany Lobo congratulated Melwyn Peris and said that he lived for music and served Konkani through his devotional songs and music.He said that Angelore Parish was honored to host his 75th musical nite on the occasion of its platinum jubilee. He also thanked Melwyn Peris for donating the funds raised by the show to the education fund. 

Mr. Leo Rodrigues said that music comes naturally to Melwyn Peris and his family. His talents were inherited; and he began to sing at the age of 7 and could compose songs by the age of 16.  Melwyn not only used his talents to entertain people, but also served in the church choir. He congratulated Melwyn Peris for organizing his 75th musical nite and also the Angelore parish for celebrating its Platinum Jubilee. 

Mr. Leo Rodrigues Abudhabi released “Dabazo,” the CD of Melwyn Peris’ 25th music album, during this occasion. The bishop released “Suvallo,” a compilation of songs from 25 albums and “Dinvas,” a CD of devotional songs. The bishop also released a book on legal matters by Mr. Stany D’Costa, advocate and Christian marriage registrar and notary. The first copy was given to Mr. Victor Rodrigues.

Mr. Peris and his team performed some lively numbers. The Naach Sobhann team with its lively dance performances accompanied the singers. Mr. Jerry, Mr. Albert, and Mr. Joseph entertained the crowd with skits and jokes. Mr. Denis Peris, Mr. Rony D’Cunha, Mr. Rony Crasta, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Michael, Ms Anita, Ms Ivy, and Mrs Zeena gave a melodious performance.
