75 lakh kids in state to be administered Polio drops : Minister Khader

Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2015: State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has informed that  it has been targeted to administer Polio drops to as many as 75 lakh children below five years of age  during the Pulse Polio campaign to be held on  January 18 and February 22.

Speaking to reporters here on January 16, Friday, the minister said a total of 32,628 booths with 51,558 teams will operate throughout the state to ensure the success of the campaign.  As many as 1,03,440 volunteers and  4,619 supervisors will be on action on this day, he said.

The Minister also stated that steps would be taken to vaccinate the children of nearly 25000 migrant workers in the state and added there would be  2,162 transit teams at bus terminuses, railway stations and airports  to ensure all kids are given polio drops.

In Mangaluru, the campaign will be inaugurated at Lady Goschen Hospital, the minister informed and said  volunteers would make a door to door visit to encourage parents to administer polio drops to the children.
