Mangaluru Sep 17, 2016: The sixth convocation ceremony of Nitte University was held at KS Hegde Auditorium, Derlakatte on September 17, Saturday.

In his convocation address Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya noted happily that Nitte University is growing as a centre of excellence in Higher education, research and community service.

Nitte University are inspired in many ways and grown into a large conglomerate in higher education, he added.

He also said that, students should not be top job seeker but need to be top thinker.Due to hardwork and sacrifice students are empowering knowledge to reach their goals.

At present there is hardly any constructive and positive dialouge between our Trade, Industry, Commerce and Education. There has to be an understanding about the natural resources available and our subjects in the university, said Acharya.

He further stated that, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are at the forefront in educational field will also take up the challenges of bringing equality in the economic life of the people of our country. Students need to think like leaders in proffessional life.

In his presidential Address Chancellor of Nitte University N Vinay Hegde said that, students need to be successful in their respective proffession and serve for the society because society is responsible for what you are.

He said to the gradutes that, today we can notice several people deprived from education but its because of your sacrifice you have reached greater heights. You also need to owe gratitude to your parents who has undertaken challenges and effort to make you successful person.

He said that it is a previlage to have PB acharya in this convocation ceremony who showed his concern towards the people of North East to bring them to the main stream.

Today Nitte university stands as one of the top most institute which has quality education by all means, said Vinay Hegde.

Pro-Chancellor Nitte University Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Vishal Hegde, Vice Chancellor Nitte University Dr Ramananda Shetty and others were present.

10 gold medals was awarded during this convocation ceremony - six Nitte University gold medals and Four Endowment Gold medals.

Gold Medal winners are Dr Adrija Kar, Dr Anitha Precilla, Dr Parvathy Pillai, Shree Laxmi Shenoy, Sathyashree, Archana Gautam, Caroline and Ayisha Hiba.

A total of 636 students awarded the degree certificates- Doctor of Philosophy 18, Medical 161, Dental 140, Nursing 116, Physiotherapy 28, Allied Health Science 38, Journalism 16, Biological Science 17.
