Pallavi Akurathi, Director, Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE), said here on Thursday that each of the 1,032 test centres will have one chief invigilator, apart from sitting and flying squads. Asked about the steps taken by the department to avoid a repeat of last year’s fracas surrounding the evaluation and re-evaluation of II PU results, Ms. Akurathi said camp officers have been trained this time to prepare the evaluators before the exams, which conclude on March 28.

The controversial circular by the DPUE — making it mandatory for students to take scanned copies of their answer scripts before applying for re-evaluation — is being relooked at.

The DPUE had written to the Law Department after meeting with student organisation representatives, she said. Among the other new rules that had irked students were making them submit an undertaking that the re-evaluation results will not be challenged in the court of law or “make any claim on account of revision of marks in any forum.” However, students who score more than they have been given after re-totalling will not be charged any fee, Ms. Akurathi said.

Commenting on students, who were admitted to science courses by colleges after completing arts or commerce courses, not being able to write the exam, the DPUE officials said there was no provision to allow them to write the exam. They also said action would be taken against colleges that have admitted them.
