50,000 devotees to wear Datta Mala to mark Datta Jayanthi Utsav: Sharan Pumpwell

Udupi Dec 2, 2016: Coordinator of  Bajrang Dal Sharan Pumpwell informed that 50,000 devotees will wear the Datta Mala as part of the Datta Mala Abhiyan in Chikmagaluru.


Addressing media at press club on Friday December 2, he said that Datta Jayanthi Utsav will be held at the Datta Peeta for three days from December 11 to 13.

 On December 12th procession will be carried out at Chikkamagalur, Vishwa Hindu Parishat All India level joint secretary Dr Surendra Kumar will address the gathering and over 50,000 devotees from across the state will arrive for the Datta Peeta on December 13.

He also said that, over 20,000 Datta Maladharies from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Kodagu district will be attending. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math will inaugurate the Datta Mala Abhiyan.

He also said that the Supreme Court has handed over the responsibility of solving the Datta Peeta issue to the State government. We will continue with our demand for declaring the place as belonging to Hindus and for offering prayers thrice a day. Now, the matter is before the State government. It should respect the sentiments of the majority Hindus, he said.
