4 of family dead after car plunges into Harangi canal

Madikeri, Aug 07, 2018: Four members of a family met a watery grave when their car plunged into the Harangi canal near Mantikoppalu village in  Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru district.

 

The mishap occurred after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The deceased are Palaniswamy (45), Sanjukumari (35), Poornima (19) and Likhit (15). They hailed from Napoklu village.  They were on way to Lakshmipura village where the family owned  land. The deceased  Palaniswamy was driving the car. He was a mason, while his children Likhit and Poornima were differently-abled.

Police and fire service personnel extricated the bodies from the canal.
