35 year old man kills mother in Kundapur

Mangaluru, May 29, 2016:According to the Kundapur police,  a 35-year-old man killed his 72-year-old mother over a trivial issue at Balkur village near Kundapur on May 28, Saturday.

 Rama Poojary used to quarrel with his mother Sadhu Poojari. He demanded money from her, she refused it. In a fit of fury, he murdered her with a sickle.  Police say murder took place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on May 28, Saturday. It came to light when Sadhu Poojari’s son-in-law got suspicious of Rama’s behaviour and went to the house and found her lying in a pool of blood. He then informed the police.

The police arrested Rama and questioned him about the crime. Rama confessed to murdering his mother with a sickle. Rama worked as an agricultural labourer and was an alcoholic. He had consumed alcohol the previous  night.

The police confirmed post-mortem of Sadhu Poojari was conducted at the KMC, Kasturba Hospital in Manipal. A case had been registered at the Kundapur police station and investigations are on.
