33-year-old woman from Bantwal, who lost her mother to Covid-19, discharged post treatment

Mangaluru, May 11, 2020: A 33-year-old woman from Kasba village in Bantwal was discharged from District Wenlock Hospital after being treated for Covid-19 on Monday.

Designated P-489, she is the daughter of P-409 (since deceased), resident of the same village. The woman discharged during the day was admitted to Wenlock Hospital, designated Covid hospital on April 21. With this, total active cases in DK district has dropped to 14 and an equal number are still under treatment.

Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said out of the 14 people under treatment, condition of 12 is fine. "Condition of P-587, octogenarian from Kulashekar with blood pressure and paralysis remains critical" she said. Likewise, condition of P-536, resident of Boloor in MCC limits, suffering from TB meningitis too is critical and she is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit, Sindhu stated in the daily bulletin released by the district administration.

The district has recorded three deaths to the pandemic – all women. Out of the 14 patients discharged thus far, eight are from Dakshina Kannada and rest are from outside the district but treated here. These include four from Kasaragod and one each from Bhatkal and Karkala in Udupi. In a related development, the district administration also sent back 1151 migrant labourers from Uttar Pradesh in a Shramik Special, the fourth such train to depart from this coastal city.

DK-Udupi single unit
Acceding to request from local trade bodies, the state government in its order dated May 9 has considered DK and Udupi as a single unit for movement of people on essential works. People may travel with ID cards of their respective enterprises and there is no need for separate inter-district travel pass for them. Hitherto, the state government had considered Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Ramanagar and Tumakuru as single unit for same purpose.
