33, including former MLA’s son, test positive in DK

Mangaluru, June 27, 2020:  The surge in Covid-19 cases continued in Dakshina Kannada district with 33 fresh cases being recorded on Friday.

DK Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said that among the 33 cases, 15 had international travel history from Saudi Arabia, Dammam and Qatar while four had Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and two were suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

The ten fresh cases were primary contacts of P 8005, P 8004, P 9735, P 10275,
P 9739, P 8006, P 9735. All the infected had been shifted to the designated Covid hospital for treatment.

Among those who tested positive included the son of former MLA Moideen Bava. The son who had returned home from Bengaluru had tested positive to Covid-19. He was shifted to the district Wenlock Hospital and the former MLA’s house was sealed down.

As the son maintained a close relationship with his uncles, an MLC’s house is also likely to be sealed.

The deputy commissioner said that four infected patients were undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital. On the other hand, 34 persons had recovered and were discharged from hospital on Friday. As many as 378 patients were discharged as on Friday. DK has 139 active cases now. The reports of 202 samples were pending in addition to 280 samples received on Friday. As many as 61 persons had been admitted to the hospital for observation.
