Kaup, Mar 28, 2017: As per the plans of Phalimar seer the process of installing a 32 feet tall monolithic statue of saint Madhwacharya on a 40 feet tall cement pillar was initiated on March 27 at the Sri Durga Hills of Kunjarugiri in Kurkalu village.
The preparations for the same were underway since the past few days under the guidance of engineers from L &T. Though a technical snag cropped up in the process on Monday, the installation is expected to be complete today (Tuesday).
Kunjarugiri hills is under the administration of Admar Mutt and is close to the Pajaka Kshetra where the saint was born.
The 32 feet tall statue weighing 110 tonnes stands on a 40 feet tall and 250 tonne weighing iron pillars and has a platform or Padma Peetha of 8 feet thickness.
The religious rituals in connection with the installation will be held from May 8 to 10, according to Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Phalimar Mutt.
The statue has been sculpted using the Koyna grey granite from Devanahalli near Bengaluru by internationally acclaimed sculptor Ashok Gudigar and his team.
