3 stations in Udupi district sealed down as three cops test positive for Covid-19

Karkala, May 24, 2020: After three police personnel of Udupi district were tested positive for Covid-19, three police stations have been sealed down. The throat swab samples of a constable of Brahmavar, Karkala Rural Police Station and an ASI of Ajerkar Police Station which were sent for test have come out positive, confirmed Udupi District Health Officer. All three cops are shifted to the Dr TMA Pai Covid Hospital of Udupi.

In the backdrop of the three cops testing positive, the Brahmavar, Ajekar Police station, Karkala Town, Karkala Rural Stations and Karkala Circle Inspector’s offices have been sealed down.  The latter three offices are housed in the same building. In all 80 police personnel including senior police officials are being quarantined. The two who tested positive were on duty at check-posts and quarantine centres.

The buildings may open after complete sanitisation. Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said the police stations will be fully sanitised and reopened within two days.
