3 powerlifters from DK to take part in Commonwealth championship

Mangalore, Oct 21, 2011 : Suprita of SDM College in Ujire, Akshatha of Alva’s College in Moodubidri, and Vincent Prakash Carlo have been selected to represent India at the Commonwealth Unequipped Power Lifting and Bench Press Championship 2011, which is scheduled to be held in London from Dec 15 to Dec 18.

 

Vincent Prakash Carlo will participate in the Bench Pressing category and Akshatha and Suprita will participate in the Power Lifting category. The trio will also attend a Final Conditioning Coaching Camp on Nov 27, which will be held in New Delhi just before the championship.

 

 

Akshata is a final year student of masters in human resource development (MHRD) in Alva’s College in Moodubidri. Supritha is a final year B.Com. student at SDM College in Ujire. Vincent Carlo of Nanthoor works in the excise department of Mangalore.

Mr. Carlo has participated in a number of body lifting, bench pressing, and power lifting events and has come second in the national-level selection trials of bench pressing, which were held in Jamshedpur.

 

Suprita has bagged first prize in the South India Nationals held in Coimbatore.
