Udupi, July 2, 2013: A road accident reported near Pandurli in Sannar close by Nasik in Maharashtra has claimed the lives of three members of a family hailing from Bada Yermal near Padubidri.
Those killed in the macabre accident are Prashanth Suvarna(35), his wife Reshma (27) and the couple’s seven month old son Sharan Suvarna. The deceased Prashanth was the son of Rama Suvarna, a resident of near Vishnu Bhajana Mandir in Bada Yermal.
The family was settled in Mumbai. It is said a few people including the couple had embarked on a pilgrim tour to Shirdi in a Chevrolet Tavera on Sunday. The mishap is learnt to have occurred when the vehicle went out of control of the driver while it was negotiating a curve on Gooty-Sinnar Road.
The people inside the vehicle were thrown out as its doors were flung open. It is said the couple died on the spot while the child died in a local hospital.
Four others namely Kusuma Salian (41), Janaki Mendon (62), Shreya Salian (41), and Sushma Mendon (25) and driver Manohar Mendon, escaped with minor injuries.
The deceased Prashanth worked for a private TV Channel in Mumbai and was married two years ago. The family had visited the native village in May.
The bodies were brought to their ancestral home at Bada Yermal on July 1, Monday and were cremated in a single pyre in the presence of a large number of grief stricken relatives and friends.
