Mr. Shekar said that was very happy that he participated in the Colgate offer and won the scholarship. He intends to spend the scholarship on his children’s education. Mr. Kasim also plans to use the money in similar ways. Mr. Yaseer was also very excited about winning the scholarship. He plans to use the scholarship on his sister’s education.

Colgate launched its Learn and Earn Offer in July 2009. It was designed to enhance consumer awareness about oral care, while simultaneously giving them a chance to win scholarships of Rs 10,000 each. The focus of the campaign was not only to educate, but also encourage the educational endeavors of its customers. The public response to the Colgate Learn and Earn Offer was overwhelming; and the company received 1,30,000 entries from all over India.

Consumers who wanted to participate in this offer had to first learn 5 simple oral care tips available within 200 gm and 100 gm of Colgate Dental Cream. The tips were also available on Colgate’s official website:
www.colgate.co.in. After learning these tips, consumers had to send a text message to a number provided on the pack or on the website and answer a simple oral care question.

Mr. Rajesh Krishnamurthy, VP marketing of Colgate Palmolive (India) Ltd. said that the company would like to congratulate not only the winners, but also everybody who participated in the campaign. Speaking about dental care in India, he said that cases of dental problems is as high as 90 percent in India, and one of the major factors responsible for this is lack of awareness. In India, every one of 2 children suffers from tooth decay. As market leaders, Colgate Palmolive felt obliged to enhance consumer awareness, he said.

As the leading oral care company in India, Colgate has always worked to create widespread oral care awareness by initiating school programmes such as Bright Smiles, Bright Futures, and so on to reach out to primary school children and teach them about oral care and dental hygiene. Colgate Learn and Earn Offer is just another initiative designed in order to interact with consumers and emphasize the importance of oral care.
