3 Hindu Mahasabha activists arrested for forcing young pairs to marry

Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2015:  Three activists of the Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha were arrested  by the police  on February 14. Saturday on the charges of trying to get two couples married off forcefully at the Kadri park in the city.

The arrested are Naveen, Suresh and Rajesh Poojary. Sources said the trio who saw the two couples in the Kadri Park, soon approached them and tried to get them married.

The police rushed to the spot on gathering information and arrested the three.

Pranavananda Swami, State president of th Mahasabha  said the activists of his organisation are keeping a strict vigil in parks and beaches to  ensure that couples do not celebrate Valentine’s Day and added those spotted will be married off.

The police have stepped up security arrangements in the city to ensure that no trouble is created on Valentine’s Day. City Police Commissioner S Murugan has also warned of action against those trying to create trouble.
