3 Arrested for Theft of Petrol and Diesel

Panambur Police organized a raid in Baikampady industrial area and nabbed 3 men who were pilfering diesel and petrol from tankers that were transporting them to other regions of Karnataka. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Panambur Sub Division said that the tanker had stopped near a garage in Baikampady. The owner of the tanker, the owner of the garage, and some other men began pilfering the fuel into drums with the intention of transporting it somewhere else. Police raided the spot at the same moment and nabbed Mr. Sridhar, the owner of Kenwin Industries, and 2 others identified as Sudhir Shetty and Damodar for stealing regulated commodities. 
 

Kishore, the driver of the tanker, and Nagesh, its cleaner, managed to escape arrest. Mr. Sudhir Shetty had already been convicted for theft of regulated commodities from tankers when Mr. Harathal Halappa, the civil supplies minister, raided the industrial area in June 2009.

Police seized materials worth Rs. 6.5 lakh, which included pilfered petrol/diesel worth Rs. 4.5 lakh.  They have seized 12,120 litres of diesel, 12 litres of petrol, barrels, cans, tankers, and so on from the spot.
