29 H1N1 cases in DK : DHO urges public to take precautions

Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2018 : District Health Officer Dr M Ramakrishna Rao has informed that of the 359 persons in the district who were tested for H1N1 infection, 29 had tested positive. With regard to the four persons from the district who died of suspected H1N1 infection,  the official announcement would be made once the medical tests confirm the same, he added.

 

Ramakrishna Ra... He said a total of 29 cases of H1N1 infections were confirmed between January 1 to October 15. The maximum cases-26 were reported from Mangaluru, 2 in Bantwal and one in Puttur. Among those infected, 23 have been cured and two are under treatment, he informed.

Elaborating on the symptoms of H1N1 infection, he said  cold, fever, cough, running nose, head ache, body ache, chills and  tiredness are the symptoms of the disease while some even suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea. The virus spreads while the patient coughs or sneezes, he said adding as a precautionary measure one has to cover his nose and mouth while sneezing and coughing and should also  wash hands using soap frequently.

 Dr Rajeshwari Devi, Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital,  Mangaluru Taluk Health Officer Naveen Kulal and others were present.
