22 year old youth from Bengaluru drowns in Malpe beach

Malpe: July 30, 2015:A 22 year old youth lost his life after he was swept away by strong currents at Malpe beach in Udupi on Wednesday.

The deceased Shivakumar (22) resident of Herikoor in Haveri District was working in Bengaluru.

On Wednesday, Shivkumar and his 15 friends had arrived at Malpe beach from Bengaluru at evening. All the youths got into the water to swim. When they were taking a dip, Shivkumar was washed away by high waves. His friends who tried to rescue him failed to save his life.

The Malpe police arrived at the spot and launched a search operation. A case has been registered at Jurisdictional Malpe police station.
