20 year old youth meets watery grave in Netravathi

Bantwal, June 9, 2014: A 20 year old youth who was having a bath along with his friends in the Netravathi River  at Malaibettu in Munnur village on  June 8, Sunday, has  drowned. His three friends however  were lucky enough to survive.

The deceased is Naushad (20), son of Mohammad of Gandodi near BC Road. The tragedy occurred when Naushad along with his friends Naufal, Shabeer and Naufal  had  decided to have a swim in the river. He had come to Malaibettu to a relative’s house when  the mishap took place.

 When Naushad began to drown, his friends raised a cry and locals  plunged into the river and rescued  three  of them. Naushad had died by the time he was lifted out of the river.

Bantwal Town Police have registered a case.
