20 passengers injured as express bus collides with JCB near Hejamady

Padubidri, Apr 02, 2017 : As many as 20 passengers of a private express bus  were injured  when the speeding bus collided with a JCB  on the one-way zone of the Highway near the Kannangar Garodi on April 1,  night.

The attempt of the driver of the  Vishal  bus to overtake another bus on the route resulted in the mishap. It is said the JCB was on the wrong side of the road and was heading towards Hejamady. The bus had overturned due to the impact of the collision and was completely mangled.
Locals assisted in rushing the injured passengers to the hospital through private vehicles. The accident disrupted traffic on the route for nearly  two hours.

It has become  a habit for some motorists to avoid the toll plaza near Hejamady by  opting for an alternate route in the opposite direction  dangerously. It is believed that a similar act of the JCB driver led to this mishap. Angry public thrashed him for  being responsible for the accident.
