The women namely  Poovakka and Ayishat had availed  treatment at a health check-up camp under the Vajpayee Arogyashree Scheme  when doctors found that they had heart related problem. The two women were later treated at a private hospital at Mangaluru  but had eventually died. Villagers have now alleged that  medical negligence was the reason for the death of the two women.

The decision to stage a protest was taken at the meeting held at the local GP office under the presidentship of Narayana Poojary, President of the Gram Panchayat.

Even State Health Minister UT Khader had visited the village following the incident and had assured probe. However, now that the demand of the villagers to make the investigation report public has gone unheard of, they have decided to take the path of agitation.
