Mangaluru, Jan 18, 2021: City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has informed that four persons including two women have been arrested in connection with a honey trap case reported from Suratkal Police Station limits.
Speaking to reporters here on January 18, Monday at his office, the Commissioner said the accused are Iqbal, Abdul Khader Naseef of Krishnapura, Reshma alias Neema and Zeenath Alias Zeenath Mubeen. The Commissioner said Reshma used to roll beedies while Zeenath worked for an insurance company.
The Commissioner informed that mobile phones, credit card and a Mahindra XUV Vehicle have been seized from the accused who were at Florentine Apartment in Kana Katla.
The case is relating to the honeytrapping of a Kerala origin man who owned a transport business. The Commissioner said the two women had contacted the man on January 14 and invited him to their house. When the businessman arrived, he was assaulted and threatened by the two accused who then placed a demand for Rs 5 lakhs. The Commissioner said the victim had already paid Rs 30,000 and added the accused had also threatened to file a rape case against him.
The Commissioner informed that the same group was behind at least five to six cases reported in the recent months and suspected that five to six people might be involved in this honey trapping racket.
