18 students of Pompei High School to write SSLC exams in Tulu

Mangalore, Oct 24, 2014 : In a welcome move, as many as 18 students of Pompei High School at Urva have come forward to write the SSLC exams of 2014-15 in Tulu.

The names of the students and the model exam papers have already been submitted to the SSLC Board and the same is awaiting approval.

It may be recalled here that introduction of Tulu as a third language in schools was approved by the Government in the academic year 2010-11.

Though Tulu text books were prepared  at the initiative of the Tulu academy and distributed to schools which requested the same, there was not much of an enthusiasm among schools  as well as students to take up Tulu study as a third language.

The 18 students who have now opted to write SSLC in Tulu are being trained by teacher Dinesh Shettigar.
