16 years later court finds man guilty of killing wife

Bantwal , Sep 16, 2016: It is reported that a man who had murdered his wife 16 years ago has been convicted and the quantum of punishment will soon be pronounced.

Raju alias Raja (50) has murdered his wife and had been absconding for the past 16 years. Raju hails from Coimbatore. He had come to Bantwal along with his brothers to work in a stone quarry. He got married to a woman in his native place but abandoned her after a few years.

He then married Devi (25) and was residing at a rented house in Bantwal. On July 21, 1998 night, in an inebriated condition he picked up a quarrel with his wife and fatally stabbed her with a sword; he was then absconding.

The Bantwal police registered a case and a chargesheet was submitted to the court. He was finally arrested on September 4, 2014 from Tamil Nadu.
