15,410 Students to appear for II PU exam in Udupi

Udupi, Feb 20, 2019: As many as 15,410 students  in Udupi district will be appearing for the second year Pre-University Course (PUC) examination, which will be held from March 1 to 18.

This was disclosed at a preparatory meeting for examination chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati here on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Pre-University Education Subrahmanya Joshi said 27 centres would be set up for conducting the exam across Udupi district. Question papers would be distributed by eight route teams.  The principals of the respective colleges would be the chief supervisors for these centres.

A vigilance squad too had been formed to pay surprise visits to these centres. Question papers would be kept in the Strong Room of the District Treasury here. A committee of officers under the Additional Deputy Commissioner would be in charge of it. The question papers would be distributed to the centres under tight security, he said.

Ms. Korlapati said the persons appointed for the exam duty should work with sincerity and give no scope for any lacunae. All basic facilities should be provided at the exam centres.

The department officers should visit all the exam centres and check all the benches and desks in all the rooms. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr. PC, which would be enforced in and around the centres during the exam, should be enforced properly, she said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari said strangers should be prohibited from entering the exam centres. No one, including the exam supervisors could take mobile phones inside the exam centres. Parents would not be allowed in 200-m radius of the centres, she said.
