139 new Covid-19 positive cases in DK; 136 cases in Udupi on Saturday

Mangaluru, August 1, 2020: 139 people from Dakshina Kannada and 136 people from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Both districts accounted for six deaths each on Saturday, taking the tally in DK to 159 and 35 in Udupi.

Among the 139 new cases, 91 are from Mangaluru, 19 from Bantwal, 14 from Beltangady, 9 from Puttur, and 6 from other districts. As many as 54 patients were discharged from hospital today.

On reasons for the change in bulletin format, Dr Rajendra said that there is no need to create panic among people by going into details about comorbidities that patients who died, endured. “It will be the administration’s endeavour to keep people informed through media about the developing Covid-19 situation in a simple format,” Dr Rajendra said.


With this the total Covid 19 positive cases in the DK district rose to 5,852. As many as 2,685 persons have been discharged and 3,008 cases are currently active. 159 deaths have occurred including 4 deaths today.

Udupi district has reported 136 fresh cases on Saturday. Among them, 65 from Udupi, 37 from Kundapur, and 33 from Karkala. Now, the Udupi has a total of 4,492 cases with 1,811 still being treated at the designated hospitals. 2,646 patients recovered and discharged including 124 discharges today. The district has reported 35 COVID-19 fatality including six on Saturday.
