10 lakh pending BPL cards to be distributed in 3 months : Minister Khader

Mangaluru July 1, 2016: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs UT Khader has said that it was necessary to make ration cards easy accessible for the people.  The process has been simplified as presently  Aadhar card number is sufficient as against the 14 documents which were required earlier, he said.


ut khader  1Addressing   the Press at Circuit House on  July 1 Friday, he said that   within next three months nearly 10 lakh BPL cards which are pending in the state will be issued to applicants  concerned. These applications need to be rectified and will be processed to reach out to the people, he added.


He also said that  the process of issuing ration cards will be much easier as it will be done online.


A website will soon  be launched to register a complaint regarding  bogus cards as many people who are entitled  for APL cards are found possessing BPL Cards. Whoever informs  the government regarding such cases will be rewarded with Rs. 400, the Minister informed.

Khader said that  registered NGOs and orphanages will get rice for Rs 3 per Kg. HIV, Leprosy , Cancer and Kidney patients will be considered as BPL card holders, he said.
