10-Day Handicraft Mela begins in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2016: A national-level Gandhi Shilp Bazar Handicrafts Mela, has been organised by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and Cauvery, the Karnataka Sate Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd at Hotel Woodlands from  today December 02 Thursday.

It is a 10-day Mela, atleast a  100 master craftspersons from various states across the country  participated by displaying their exclusive and exquisite handicrafts and handcrafted textiles to sell directly to the connoisseurs of arts and crafts in Mangaluru.


Dhokra castings, stone carvings, palm leaf engraving, appliqué works of Odisha, carpets, durries, tribal jewellery, lac craft of Bihar, woollen carpets, jute crafts of West Bengal, cane and bamboo, Sitalpati and terracotta of north-eastern states miniature paintings, papier mache from Rajasthan, colourful embroidered shawls, papier mache from Jammu and Kashmir, pearl jewellery and crochet lace of Andhra Pradesh, sandalwood carvings, wood inlay of Karnataka, Chola bronze, stone carvings, wood carvings, Kora grass mats of Tamil Nadu, rosewood carvings and fibre-based crafts of Kerala, zari, Chanderi sarees, Phulkari, Madhubani paintings and others will be on display and sale for art lovers of Mangaluru.


This mela will be open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm from Dec 02 to 11.
