Udupi, Nov 1, 2011 : One person died and four more were injured in a terrible accident involving 3 vehicles along NH 66 in Pangala on the night of Oct 31 Monday.

The accident involved a truck transporting chemical fertilizers to Udupi, a tempo moving to Mangalore, and an auto rickshaw. The impact caused a fire, which began spreading rapidly from one vehicle to the other. While the truck and the auto rickshaw were reduced to skeletons in a matter of minutes, the tempo was partially damaged.

The drivers of the truck and tempo managed to jump out of the vehicle, but the auto rickshaw driver could not move because his vehicle was sandwiched between the two bigger vehicles. The local people tried their best to save him, but could not do so because of the rapidly spreading fire and the possibilities of an explosion.
