’Pura Pravesha’ of Pejawar seer in to Udupi - January 4

Udupi, Jan 02, 2015:  Speaking at a meeting convened to discuss preparations for the forthcoming Paryaya festival at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Udupi on Jan1, Friday, District In-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said various departments of the government should work collectively to ensure smooth conduct of the fifth Paryaya of Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami.

Vinay Kumar So...The Minister said the district had conducted the Mahamast- hakabhisheka and Atthur Church festival smoothly. The Pura Pravesha (entry into the city) of the seer would be held on January 4 and the elaborate security arrangements would be made for the purpose.

Udupi DC  Dr R Vishal directed the police officials to provide tight security for the ’Hore Kanike’ procession as the traffic might pose a problem. The police officials said that plans for security have been chalked out and sufficient number of personnel have been deployed for the purpose. The women police, home guards would also be deployed.

Besides, CCTV cameras have been put up at the strategic points. The police personnel would also be called from other districts to curtail the number of crimes during the Paryaya celebrations. The crime branch personnel will be on constant vigil. As many as 24 junctions have been identified to set up police control rooms and also CCTV camera control rooms, he added.

The DC said the police can contact the RTO for additional vehicles to aid hassle-free transport. DC Dr Vishal also instructed the CMC Commissioner to set up temporary toilets and also make sufficient drinking water arrangements, besides maintaining hygienic conditions in the area.

He added that the area in and around Car Street should be cleaned. He also directed the Fire and Emergency Services Department personnel and Health Department officials to be equipped to with measures handle the emergencies.

The DC also directed the KSRTC to deploy additional buses for easy transport and also instructed the Mescom to provide uninterrupted power supply during the Paryaya festival. He also said a helipad should be built and arrangements should be made for the accommodation of the dignitaries, he added.

The mutt’s Diwan said a bike rally with 400 motorbikes and performance by 55 folk art teams would mark the seer’s Pura Pravesha ceremony. About 3,000 people are expected to take part in the function. The civic felicitation ceremony is held on the occasion. The ’Hore Kanike’ procession would be held every day in the evening from January 5. The Mulsim community people would organise a blood donation camp to mark the celebrations on January 17, he added.

 M’luru :   A civic reception would be accorded to the seer, who will ascend the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha for the fifth time in Udupi, at the Town Hall in Mangaluru at 4 pm on January 3.

Briefing mediapersons in Mangaluru, the reception committee convener Shashidhar Hegde said the seer will be taken out in a procession from Sharavu Ganapathy temple to the Town Hall.

Bhajan troupes, Chende, Kombu, Keelukudure and other folk art teams would take part in the procession, he added.

District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, Ramakrishna Ashram Mutt seer Jithakamananda Swami, Udupi District-in-Charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, MP Oscar Fernandes and others will take part in the programme.
