Mangaluru, Nov 27 ,2014: The ritual involving rolling on plantain leaf leftovers by Brahmins after meals, believing that it will cure them of skin ailments. The ritual will be held for one day on Shasti on November 27,Thursday.
The number of people who performed made Snana at the Kukke Subrahmanya temple in Dakshina Kannada district on Nov 26, Wednesday, grew two-fold and more than 700 took part in the ritual on Panchami day. The first day of Chauti saw 303 take part in made Snana.
About 200 persons performed ``beedi made snana’’. This form of made Snana is performed by devotees rolling on the ground after having bath at Kumaradhara River. After the two-kilometre long ’Beedi Made Snana’ from Kumaradhara Theertha to Subrahmanya temple, the devotees roll round at the sanctum sanctorum, bathe at the Darpana theertha and perform pooja. Also, around 600 performed Moole Made Snana or urulu seve (rolling around the sanctum sanctorum) early in the morning. This ritual does not involve rolling over left overs.
