’Yoga Day’ programmes in twin districts on June 21, Sunday

Mangaluru, June 20, 2015: Various news reports indicate that as part of  ’Yoga Day’  on June 21, BJP will organise mass yoga programmes on June 21 in eight mandals in the DK district and at least 100 people are expected to take part.





Providing the information,  Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said the programmes will be held under the guidance of Pramukhs and Sahapramukhs of Belthangadi, Moodbidri, Mangaluru North, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru, Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia mandals. Workers of respective mandals will take part.

NCC - National Cadet Corps will organise largest ever demonstration of Yoga by a uniformed organisation on a single day concurrently at multiple venues all across India, on June 21, the International Day of Yoga. 

More than ten lakh cadets will take part simultaneously in at least 1,900 locations across the nation. NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa under stewardship of Air Commodore C Rajeev, Deputy Director General NCC, will establish 52 venues in Karnataka and three venues in Goa. In Karnataka, one will see approximately 62,000 cadets participating and similarly about 3,000 cadets from Goa will participate in Goa.

Commemorative stamps :  On ’International Yoga  Day’  stamps will be available for sale at Mangaluru Philatelic Bureau, Mangaluru Head Post Office, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru on June 21 between 12:30 pm to 5 pm, as per reports. Philatelists/ Amateurs can approach Mangaluru Philatelic Bureau to purchase the stamp on ’International Day of Yoga’ and utilise the special service on Sunday. Stamps will be thereafter available at Mangaluru Philatelic Bureau, Kulshekar Head Post Office and Hampankatta Post Office.

* Sharada Vidyalaya, Kodialbail :  ’International Day of Yoga’  at  Sharada Vidyalaya Auditorium on June 21 at 8 am.

* Mata Amritanandamayi Math will celebrate International Day for Yoga at Math near Sulthan Batheri, Boloor on June 21 at 7 am. Brahmacharini Chaithanya will conduct Yogasana programme. Yoga teacher V L Rego will be felicitated. World Environment Day will also be celebrated. Vishwa Hindu Parishat(VHP) and Bajrang Dal will observe International Day for Yoga at Sri Krishna Kalyana Mantapa in Mallikatte at 8 am.

 Manipal University :  About 1,000 cadets of all three wings; Army, Air Force and Navy are expected to participate in the yoga being organised by NCC unit at MIT, 4 KAR ENGG COY on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2014 Pro Chancellor, Dr H S Ballal will inaugurate at 6.45 am at MIT Food Court premises. In DK : About  3,600 NCC cadets will do yogasana to observe the first International Day of Yoga in Dakshina Kannada on June 21. The United Nations General Assembly on December 14, 2014 declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.  A release said that 1,600 cadets would do yogasanas at Canara High School, Urwa, 1,100 cadets at Alva’s College, Moodbidri, and 900 cadets at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara College, Ujire. They would perform from 7 a.m. to 7.35 a.m.  It said that about 10 lakh NCC cadets would do yoga simultaneously on that day. The NCC was preparing students for it since March.

Govt. celebration :   More than 600 persons are expected to attend the celebration organised by the government in Mangaluru.  The government would observe the day at TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mahatma Gandhi Road at 8.30 a.m. Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada B. Ramanath Rai would inaugurate it, an official release quoting A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner said.

Students, government officials, members of youth and sports clubs would participate in it, it said.  The Departments of Sports and Youth Empowerment and AYUSH, is organising the International Yoga Day at the District Indoor Stadium in Udupi at 7 a.m. on Sunday. Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister would inaugurate it, said a separate release.

The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy under the Department of AYUSH, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Nehru Yuva Kendra would be organising a workshop on Yoga at Divine Park in Saligrama village on Sunday. Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC, will preside over the inaugural function.

BJP to observe yoga  :  Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP has organised yogasanas in different places at eight Assembly segments at different timings starting from 6 a.m.  It would be organised at Moodbidri, Bajpe, Belthangady, Puttur, Uppinangady, Bettampady, Vitla, Sajeepa, Kodical, Kulai, Arkula. Adyar, Kolya and its district office at PVS Circle in the city.

Mannagudda  :
  Vishwa Yoga Dinacharana Samithi, Dakshina Kannada would conduct the yogasana performance at Sanghaniketan, Mannagudda from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament would inaugurate it.

Mangalore University  :  Mangalore University would observe the day at 11 a.m. There would be common yoga practice for half an hour followed by demonstration of asanas. Vice-Chancellor K. Byrappa would be present on the occasion.

The Udupi district unit of the BJP
Will organise the Yoga Day celebrations at the Sheshashayana Hall in Udupi from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday.    Udaykumar Shetty, BJP leader, said that nearly 1,000 persons were expected to participate in it. Shobha Karandlaje, MP, will inaugurate the celebrations.
