’Visa on arrival’ for patients under govt consideration

Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2015:  Speaking at the valedictory programme of second edition of the Sustainable Smart Cities India organised by MCC -Mangaluru City Corporation and Nispana in the city on Nov 17, Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader said the provision of visa on arrival for economically less privileged patients from foreign countries is under consideration of the government.

He said the health services in the city needs to be smart with the smart city concept. Mangaluru is equipped with the best medical treatment and to make this accessible to the people outside India, the visa on arrival system is required for the economically backward patients too. He maintained that the strict adherence to laws, rules and regulations should be ensured so as to make the revenue generation more transparent.

Minister Khader suggested tabling the plan towards the Special Purpose Vehicle, at the Mangaluru City Corporation Council, for discussions. He also said that more than three city corporations can carry out collaborative efforts to set up a large scale waste and sewage treatment plant.

Deputy Mayor Purushottam Chitrapur, Leader of Opposition in the MCC Council Sudhir Shetty Kannur, MCC Commissioner Dr H N Gopalakrishna and Nispana Managing Director Narendra Kumar were present.
