Mangaluru, Mar 18,2017: Apart from wielding brooms and paint brushes in cleaning and sprucing up  the city, creating awareness,  reaching out to more and more people is the special objective of the Ramakrishna Mission  Ashrama. It has also successfully arranged seminars and workshops for college students, Swacch Manas Programmes, workshops for house-wives, door to door visit of houses creating awareness about segregation of waste and garbage, Swacch Bharath rally, programmes on Doordarshan and radio and print media etc.

Adding to the list is a new initiative of the Ashrama is launching; Magic for Cleanliness, the  Ashrama is  organising  30 magic shows at least by Sri Kudroli Ganesh and party over the next 15 days - March 19 to April 2, indifferent venues of Mangalore and nearby, see detailed programme. Entertainment coupled with educating the  masses in cleanliness is the objective behind this initiative.

Ramakrishna Mission, Mangalore who have been spearheading Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan for the past two years.  Held a media meet at the Mangaluru Press Club on March 17, Friday, announced that  various modules through which the ashram is bringing awareness among the public of the city, about hygiene and cleanliness, is set to go forward. In the third phase, about 60 different teams in Mangalore have joined hands with the ashrama in this Swacchata Abhiyan,  it
already successfully completed 260 drives over 23 weeks in two phases.


Utilizing a bus chassis in the form  of a tableau, arrangements for sound system,  platform, video shows and arrangements for display of magic shows are being made.  Daily 2 shows in the evening, 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm; 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm will be held at   the designated different venues. Various teams have been formed in 30 different  locations for conducting this show as also for giving due publicity in their respective locality. Each team will be distributing  handbills about the show to about 2000 people in the localities.  This series of shows will conclude at Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi  on  April 2, Sunday. This "Magic for cleanliness - Awareness Campaign"  will be flagged off at Panambur  beach on March 19, Sunday at 5 pm in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji by Kavitha Sanil, Honourable Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation. Harish Baliga, DGM, MRPL, Yatish Baikampady of MRPL will be participating in the event as chief guests. This will give a boost to cleanliness and make citizens aware of this immediate necessity in Mangaluru and further.
