‘Shivaji should not be confined to a particular community’: Dayananda G Kattalsar

Mangaluru, Feb 21, 2020 DHNS: Chhatrapati Shivaji’s name is associated with patriotism and he is not confined to a particular community, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy chairman Dayananda G Kattalsar said on Wednesday.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaja’s 393th Jayanti programme organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Kannada and Culture, Karnataka Kshatriya Maratha Parishat and Arya Yane Maratha Samaja Sangha, at Nandini Auditorium.

“Shivaji is an epitome of patriotism and built the Nation in a true sense. The young generation must cultivate the ideologies of Shivaji,” Dayanand said and felt that Shivaji’s memory is incomplete without the mention of his mother Jija Bai and his Guru Samartha
Ramadas.

The Tulu Academy chairman urged all communities in Tulunadu to infuse strength to the movement on making Tulu an official language of the state and enlisting it under the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution.

Karnataka Kshatriya Maratha Parishat district president A V Suresh Rao Karmore urged the government to include Kshatriya Maratha community in category 2 A instead of 3 B as there is a very less percent of reservation in the latter. Also, a Corporation should be set up for the welfare of the community. Measures should be taken to declare Chatrapathi Shivaji’s father’s samadhi in Davanagere, he said.

Ravindranath Shetty serving as Teacher at Canara High School, Urwa, delivered a talk on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Arya Yane Maratha Samaja Sangha President Yatindra A Bahuman, corporators Veena Mangala and Diwakar, Department of Kannada and Culture Assistant Director Rajesh G, DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were present on the occasion.
