Mangaluru, Mar 7, 2015 : Addressing the launch on March 6, Head of Operations (Mangaluru) Sadhanandhan N said that Ola (formerly Olacabs), which was founded in 2007, promised that in-city transportation would be taken to global standards through its technology platform. After Bengaluru and Mysuru in Karnataka, India’s leading mobile app for personal transportation- Ola has entered Mangaluru. Immediately Ola has over one lakh vehicles available across 80 cities, making it the fast growing cab booking app in India. It has plans to start services in five more cities of the State soon.
Ola has over 120 cabs signed up in Mangaluru and plans to increase the number of cabs to 500 within next six months. Though Ola provides service in three categories- mini, Sedan and prime, in Mangaluru it will start with mini and Sedan. Ola mini is available at Rs 49 for the first two kilo metres and will be charged Rs 12/km after that. Sedans can also be booked at Rs 49 for first two kilo metres and will be charged Rs 14/km later. Customers can prepay their rides by recharging their Ola Money on the app once they sign in.
Olait is said has a tie up with Tata, Ford, Mahindra, Maruti and Nissan to help drivers buy cars from them directly at discounts of up to Rs one lakh and operate with Ola. It has also tied up with other financial institutions.
Using Ola app users can book a cab with one touch. The mobile app shows the available cabs nearby and the ETA of the closest cab. On booking, customers get a confirmation in real-time along with booking details like the driver’s name, number, car make and number. The app also tracks and shows the movement of the cab to the customer’s pickup location. The user can also share a link over SMS with friends and family for them to track the location of their cab in real-time, Ola local head Sadhanandhan N added.
