Mangaluru, Sep 7,2017: According to a media release recived here, Nrityaangan, a registered trust from Mangaluru  is presenting the fourthedition of its annual dance festival, “Manthana 2017”, this week.  Nrityaangan marks it’s completion of 5 yeras.

The evening of Bharatanatyam performances by two widely acclaimed artistes, beginning at 5:45 PM on Saturday,September 9, 2017, at Don Bosco Hall, Balmatta road, Mangaluru.  Nrityaangan is continuing to propagate  Indian classical arts and taking them  to the people with the objective of turning them into ‘rasikas’,

The evening of Bharatanatyam at Manthana 2017 will be inaugurated by Shri Kamalaksha Achar, President of the Karnataka Karavali Nritya Kala Parishad, Mangaluru accompanied by Nrityaangan’s founder and artistic director, Smt. Radhika Shetty.

Performances : The first performance is by Shri Adithya PV, from Bengaluru. Adithya is a promising dancer, who is  currently training under the guidance of internationally acclaimed dancing duo of gurus Shri Kiran  Subramanyam and Smt. Sandhya Kiran, Bengaluru. As a versatile dancer, having proficiency in Kuchipudi and contemporary dancing as well, Adithya has performed at various national and international dance festivals across the globe, including Canada, Singapore and Indonesia. Adithya is currently a principal dancer with Punyah Dance Company, Bengaluru and performs with them across the country and abroad. At Manthana 2017, he will be accompanied by an orchestra ensemble including Parshwanath Upadhye who will don the Nattuvanar’s role.

Following this performance, is a much awaited Bharatanatyam performance by internationally acclaimed danseuse Smt. Meenakshi Srinivasan of Chennai. As a dancer, choreographer,Meenakshi’s ability is versatile with both the purity and sanctity of the traditional repertoire as well as
her own individual skill and approach to contemporary themes using the language of Bharatanatyam.

Meenakshi is an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ reference panel of artistes. She has been awarded the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2011 by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. She has also been conferred the titles Natya Kala Vipanchee and the Natya Kala Dharshini. Meenakshi will be accompanied by equally accomplished musicians: Shri Balakrishna (Nattuvangam), Shri K Hariprasad (vocals) and Shri Vedakrishnaram (Mridangam), at Manthana,Workshop  : Manthana has always been an event that has included learning and development as a core objective, and this year is no different. As part of Manthana 2017, Nrityaangan is hosting a Bharatanatyam workshop by world-renowned performer and choreographer, Smt.

 Meenakshi Srinivasan from Chennai. Known for her individual approach, technique and creativity, characterised by a distinctive sensuous geometry on stage, it will be a golden opportunity for the dance students and enthusiastsfrom Mangaluru and around, to learn from Meenakshi Srinivasan. This event will be held at the CBEU Golden Jubilee Hall near Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru on September 8 and 10.
