’Konkani Sugandh’ Camp for children concludes on a touching and grand note

Mangaluru, May 9,2017: In a report received, Mandd Sobhann in association with MCC Qatar had organized a 9 days’ residential camp for Konkani Children, at Kalaangann, April 29 to May 7, 2017. The Camp, titled KONKANI SUGANDH ( translating :  ‘Konkani Fragrance’) was inaugurated by  Nishel Flora D’Almeida, a  young achiever, who won the first place as the Best NCC Cadet of Karnataka and Goa Directorate and who was selected in the All India Cultural Team and performed Yakshagana at Delhi, in the presence of the honourable Prime Minister of India, on April 29. 49 children had participated in the  camp, in which children were trained in Singing, Dance, Theatre and Konkani.

The Camp concluded with the touchingly grand Closing Ceremony on May 7, Sunday evening  at Kalaangann, a  Konkani Cine Artiste,  Ranjitha Lewis, was the Chief Guest. She congratulated the children for  having participated in the camp and also advised them to make use of all opportunities that they get  to showcase their talents.

On behalf of all the participants, Ashil Mascarenhas and  Jia Menezes shared their experiences of the camp.  Ranjitha Lewis distributed Certificates to all the 49 participants.

 The best in each category – Dealle D’Souza (Singing), Navisha Lobo (Dance) and Ashil Mascarenhas (Theatre) – were honoured with a Certificate, a bouquet, a set of books published by Mandd Sobhann and a cash prize of Rs. 2,000/- each. Jason Lobo of the Singing Section bagged the ’Best Compere Award’ and was honoured with a Certificate, a bouquet, a set of books published by Mandd Sobhann and a cash prize  of Rs. 3,000/-. The trainers of the camp were also honoured on this occasion. J. Pinto,  President Kishore Fernandes, Secretary of Mandd Sobhann, respectively, and  Eric Ozario, the Camp Director – were also present on stage.

The children then presented Songs, Dances and a Play at the 185 th Monthly Theatre  –‘Bhurgyanlem Sobhann’, which followed thereafter.
