Mangaluru, Jan 8, 2016 :  Invest Dakshina Kannada meet attracting investors from various parts of the nation and world will be held at TMA Pai International Convention Centre in the city on January 12.

DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim, who held a preliminary meeting on Jan 7, Thursday, told reporters that many investors have agreed to invest in various sectors. ’Invest Dakshina Kannada’, an investors’ convention being organized by the district administration as part of ’Invest Karnataka 2016’, is expected to boost the investment potential in the region.

The DK DC stated that proposals from various investors are received, they are ready to invest on LPG bottling, steel industries, water treatment, pharmaceutical manufacture, apparel, wellness and boat club. Proposals for investment to the tune of Rs 725 crore have already been received and more investors are expected to take part in the convention. In tourism sector, six investors have agreed to invest Rs 59 crore. While IOCL will be investing Rs 100 crore, investments worth Rs 250 crore each are expected in pharma and wellness and tourism sectors.

Also, he said, MRPL, Ruchi Soya and other mega industrial sectors are also gearing up for their expansion proposals. While Ruchi soya has plans to invest Rs 3,000 crore for their plant expansion, MRPL will also be expanding its unit. Meanwhile, a pharma park will be set providing infrastructure for pharmaceutical manufacturers to set up units in Mangaluru.

The state government has already held road shows in India and abroad to attract investments in Karnataka, he added  "Dakshina Kannada is the right destination for investors as it has all types of connectivity. There are large number of opportunities in manufacture, tourism, healthcare, education and other sectors in the district," .
